Writing for pleasure 1

Writing for Pleasure 1

As the name suggests, in this course we write for our own enjoyment and stimulation. We meet fortnightly and write to a topic set by the tutor, or occasionally by another member of the class.

At the class, each of us reads out what we’ve written. There is no critiquing, but members can ask for feedback.

Our writing encompasses all genres, including fiction, true stories, memoirs, essays, poetry and children’s stories. We try to keep to a maximum of 1,000 words or a little over.

Each of us usually writes something quite different to the others on the topic, and we generally have a discussion about the contents after each reading. So our classes are interesting and enjoyable.

I hope you enjoy reading the contributions from the class members on this web page.
